به مثال زیر توجه کنید :

به این زمان Simple presentگفته میشود :
I/we/you/they drive
He/she/it drives

Simple presentزمانی استفاده میشود که در مورد مساله ای به طور کلی صحبت میکنیم . فقط در مورد زمان حال فکر نمیشود . برای مواردی از این زمان استفاده میکنیم که بگوییم مساله ای همواره یا مکررا اتفاق می افتد و یا برای اینکه بگوییم موردی همواره درست است . اینکه آن مورد در زمان گفته شده در حال وقوع باشد یا نه اصلا اهمیت ندارد :
The earth goes around the sun.
Nurses take care of patients in hospitals.
In Canada, most stores close at 6:00 p.m.
بخاطر داشته باشید که برایhe,she,it بعد از فعل ‘s’را بکار ببرید .
I work in a bank. Barry works in a department store.
ما ازdo/doesبرای سوالی کردن و منفی کردن جملات استفاده میکنیم :

توجه کنید که وقتی گفته میشودwhere do you come from?یعنی “Where are you from?”
Where do you come from? Not where are you coming from?
He comes from Japan. Not He is coming from Japan.
