Giovanni Trapattoni has hailed the current Inter Milan squad
"There have been comparisons, but I'd say when asked which is the strongest I'd give 51 per cent to Roberto Mancini's side and 49 per cent to mine, said Trapattoni, who led Inter to the 1988-89 title
"I don't like to focus on individuals, but the current team perhaps lacks a Lothar Matthaeus figure, just as I did not have a Zlatan Ibrahimovic, no offence to the great strikers I had at the time "
Trap's outfit became known as Il Grande Inter for their record-breaking campaign, but they never managed the run of 14 consecutive victories achieved by Roberto Mancini
"I always hear Mancini refuse to talk about a Scudetto until it has been achieved. I like his approach, it keeps the players slightly on edge"
He added: "Mancini has been able to keep his champions motivated and handle the alternatives at his disposal very well. With this squad, Inter could aim for the Double or even the Treble, considering they are already in the Coppa Italia Final. In the Champions League now opponents view Inter with respect and fear"
