i was watching a youtube clip where a girl (approx. 20 years old) used the word "honest" mixed with persian, is it normal for youth in Iran to use english words like this? i was very surprised

and what is the persian word for "honest"? l
Well, your question has already been answered but i'd also add something.

It's not usual but sometimes the youth would use English words merely to show that they're cool, or maybe know a thing or two more than others, though I don't think using English words in developing countries like here is that strange, well... maybe because we're developing and not developed!

And also the American culture is having it's influence everywhere, I think we all know about the Japanese and their excessive and unnecessary use of English words...

Well, your question has already been answered but i'd also add something.

First of all, hey everyone! It's my first post in this topic! Don't know why after all this time, this topic has got my attention just now! (is this last sentence grammatically correct?)

Just wanted to add that people do not always want to show that they're cool or that they know more.
I'll start with an example of myself! I hardly ever watch Iranian TV channels and I'm following at least 3 American TV series. I regularly watch their new movies (with English subtitles, if any) and read the news on major English news websites. I also play a lot of computer games which -not surprisingly- are full of English vocabulary and conversations (mostly the RPG genre). Most of my friends are -more or less- like me, so I'm not merely an exception :p!

As you can see, I'm dealing with lots of English everyday and sometimes I really do feel that I can't find a Persian alternative to the word that I'm gonna say; or sometimes the English word just describes my point more accurately. Lack of rich Persian vocabulary and abundance of Arabic words just adds to the feeling.
Although even I sometimes get mocked by my friends to use a word like "honest" where we have Persian alternatives easily available, but that's just how my brain works !

SO my whole point is that don't always mock these people! Maybe their brain just can't find the right word
!

In my mind
Hi guys , I really missed you all, and there was always taking another examination everywhere around me , day after day , ooof, that was exhausting, but the good news is that I passed all of them ( or at least I think that I have passed ) by the way the good news is that in the end I finished the whole 12-years education, means that I' have not to go to school six days a week anymore, pleasre pleasure pleasure !

I don't know how to celebrate it, but all I did after got them finished is resting, reading, eating, ...

I hope I have more time to come here and spenی it with your kind friends !

heeeeey guys
thank God exams are finished!
i was really frustrated!and the worst thing was we didnt have computer for 3 weeks!one of the hardest times of my life:p
BTW intresting thing u are talking about.i really agree with this one:
sometimes I really do feel that I can't find a Persian alternative to the word that I'm gonna say; or sometimes the English word just describes my point more accurately
but in Iran when u say a word in English they think u are just showing off!but really as Synix.Shayan said we're dealing with lots of English daily specially if u live in a foreign country so sometimes English comes in your mind faster
