BERLIN (Reuters) - A German factory worker stole over a million screws from his employer and skewed the market with his cheap stolen goods, police said on Friday.

"In the end, it became obvious that screws were being sold for much less than they usually cost," said a spokesman for police in the southern city of Wuerzburg.

Over two years, the 33-year-old assembly plant worker smuggled between 2,000 and 7,000 screws out of work each night, and auctioned them on an Internet site, police said. The scheme cost his firm around 110,000 euros (77,000 pounds).

The man confessed after officers raided his home

BANGKOK (Reuters Life!) - A Thai bank is pitching into the battle against HIV/AIDS and handing out cond*ms to customers too shy to get them at the shop.

Despite Bangkok's reputation as one of the world's s*x industry centers, Thailand is a generally conservative country.

Kasikorn Bank launched the "Cond*ms for Confidence" campaign at 600 branches nationwide and said it would start giving out the sheaths, branded K-Cond*m and K-Excellence, later this month.

"HIV/AIDS is returning to Thailand since the government awareness campaign started 20 years ago has fizzled out," said a bank spokesman who declined to be identified.

"We want the teenagers to be aware of the problem."

Despite a tenfold plunge of overall new HIV/AIDS cases from 15 years ago, the health ministry has said it was concerned about the numbers of teenagers and homos*xuals still being infected.

TOKYO (Reuters) - A disgruntled Japanese worker smashed up his employer's office in a fit of pique after his boss ignored his gift of jelly desserts, a national paper said on Thursday.

An Osaka court heard that the 31-year-old man, who worked for an online clothing sales company, had given the company president a box of jellies in the summer as a mark of gratitude after landing the job, the English-language Asahi Shimbun said.

Many Japanese maintain a tradition of sending gifts to important business contacts in summer and winter.

When the employee realized that his boss had left the box of jellies unopened under his desk, he smashed 22 computers in the office with a truncheon, the paper said. No one was injured in the incident.

The man pleaded guilty to charges of obstructing business with force, the paper said.

"I wish the company president had cared a little more," the paper quoted the employee's lawyer as saying.

Prosecutors said the employer had been too busy to open the gift, the paper said.

Hey everyone! How's life? Welcome Happy! :D 3tareh is exactly right! Nobody's perfect. We're all here to learn more from the mistakes we or others make. So don't worry at all.;) By the way how about talking about some foolish things we did before? Come on! Don't try to pretend that you didn't do anything silly that made others think you're a bit... you know... insane! We're all humans and we've all gone through similar experiences, haven't we? This way we may benefit from 2 things: first, (at last!) we can have sth to talk about and then, we may feel able to laugh at sth! :lol:Life gets boring and tiring sometimes;) looking forward to seeing your ideas. Please have fantastic moments

well I think this subject is a good excuse to continue developing at least one parageraph here ... dont u think so ... ?!

Can dogs see colors?
No.
Man's best friend is colorblind, but, fortunately, his survival does not depend upon the ability to see colors. His keen sense of smell compensates for his inability to see colors, and enables him to differentiate between things.
Extensive scientific testing on dogs supports the conclusion that they live in a colorless world. The testing done primarily focussed on the dogs' responses to colors for food. Dogs could not tell the difference between one color, a signal for food, and other colors, that were not for food. Similar tests conducted on cats produced similar results, which led scientists to conclude that they, too, are colorblind and live in a gray world.
The inability of most animals to see colors, from an evolutionary standpoint, is quite simple to understand. Many colorblind animals have dull-colored coats, hunt for food in the dark of night, or graze in the dim twilight hours. Their other senses have developed to the point where the lack of color vision in no way impairs them. For them, life in a colorless world is neither a handicap, nor a threat to their survival.
The only animals, other than man, scientists can conclusively say have color vision are monkeys and apes. Both can be trained to open a colored door, behind which is food, and man can be trained to open a refrigerator door of any color!

staring at a closed door!
MR. RUSSERT:...How much does it cost to go to Harvard University for a year?

MR. KOPPEL: It’s, it’s like $43,200.

MR. RUSSERT: And how much does it cost to house a prisoner in the California penal system?

MR. KOPPEL: Forty-three thousand. However, when the, when they let you out on parole, they hand you $200 bucks. So I think it’s, I think it’s a dead wash.

...We have more people in prison in this country than any other nation in the world.[continued]

I found this 1 intersting!

BERLIN (Reuters) - A thief in Germany was charred beyond recognition by a 10,000 volt electric shock when he tried to steal a live copper cable, authorities said Monday.

Police in the western city of Duisburg found the 32-year-old man's blackened remains by a set of cable cutters and pile of non-live cables he had already stolen.

Only because one of his hands survived incineration were officers able to identify the man as German of Kazakh origin.

"His fingerprints were already logged on police files," a local police spokesman said. "The force of the shock was so great that the hand was severed from his body."

MANILA (Reuters) - The Philippines is starting to give its 110,000 policemen a makeover, trying to make them more like friendly neighbors than their current hard man image, the new national police chief said Thursday.

Avelino Razon also said he has ordered police officers to stop wearing expensive jewelry, such as gold necklaces, bracelets, and rings, to remove suspicions they were corrupt.

For a start, Razon, said he has ordered 500 police officers to patrol the streets of the capital Manila with a baton and whistle. He has barred them from carrying assault rifles and has said handguns should be used only as a last resort.

The number will be increased progressively, Razon, who used to head the national police commando unit, told reporters.

"We're trying to go back to the basics. We'll be training our police officers to blow whistles instead of firing their handguns in the air to stop crime," he said.

"It's safer and less menacing to our citizens. I want the people to look at our police officers as their friends."

Gun ownership is high in the Philippines, since the constitution allows people to own weapons. Most criminals are armed, and so are police and private security guards.
