Sorry couldn't resist

Well, as far as I can remember I was interested in learning English. What made me interested I cannot remember, but my elder brother and sister were not so obliging to devote their time to their little sibling. However, I was not the kind to be easily dismissed.

I learned the alphabet before I go to school, and I used to write them in my little notebook along with whatever they were teaching me of Persian alphabet. Resources for learning English were very scarce at our time, but I loved the language and used every opportunity to learn it. I would even think in English and try to put my thought in the phrases I had learnt.

my mom has a license in English and actually was an English teacher for a year or so .. we always argue about if she has any kind of big impression on me being so successful in English ... when she gives up , she always says

"ok , but do't forget the genes! .... obviously I gave them to you !!!

LOL! seems English is a bit naughty as forme as far as I remember it's a HE

It's great you have such good language skills without attending any class, so I support the genetic theory! As for myself I never limited myself to the classes with usually boring teachers(no offense to your mum seymour). I wish my enthusiasm for other things in life were just as much as English and then I might be a better or let's say more succesfull person in my life

No, I don't do anything English related. I've a full-time job, we do power quality surveys. Pay is not good, but then I don't need to spend that much anyway

Hey dear old friends! I'm so happy to be here again. I was going through what you've written about learning English and the stuff... I know it's a bit late but well... I thought you might find this one pretty cool! I became interested in the English language when I was only four or five. I had a blanket which was full of cartoon characters along with some English letters and I had no clue as to what those strange lines might be. But I enjoyed tracing those odd shapes with my tiny fingers! Years later when my dad started teaching me the first concepts (regarding language learning) I came to realize that those freakish lines I used to look at and play with when I was just a little kid were in fact some English letters:blink:Again so very sorry if it was too late to talk about it

Hi :)
There are some questions that i should ask from my friends !
What are the differences between Pal Body Dog and Guy?
For example you say: Hi body! What's up dog! Hello guys! goodbye pal so what are the
differences between them? :)

Pal is an affectionate and less formal term that you can use instead of "friend." "Buddy" and not "body" is another such term. You could call your close friends as your "buddies." "Dawg" is a term also for calling a friend common among African Americans. Whites are advised not to use these black terms.
When you want to be less formal, you may greet people with "Hey guys," but note that it is very informal, and it is more common when you already know everyone or others know you and you are somehow on higher grounds, i.e. you are boss, etc

just a thought:

guys is kind of a sad word if used by girls ... consider the fact that it's basically a masculine word
candlef.gif
... and we have gals as its opposite for girls ... but nowadays even girls use guys in their conversation ...

I've never felt that way. I don't know, sometimes you get bad vibes from something so trivial and others don't get what you say

well ... actually I agree with you ... I didn't mean that "it's sad for girls" (=so they must be sad) ... I meant "it's a sad fact" ...

Well, if you want to look at it that way, this is a sad fact in all languages that the plural for many things turns into a male form rather than that of female's. If you want to be picky it is even a sadder fact that there is distinction between male and female in English for many things and even more extensive in French, German, et al.

Sometimes I think that our ancestors have been more open minded than any other foreign tribe, not turning Persian dialect into a male/female segregating(!) language
