Documents required for your application
The following signed documents and certified copies respectively, should be prepared and included in your application. Only one application package is required even though you apply for more than one programme.
Your application form must be accompanied by officially certified copies, with translations in English, of the following documents, sorted in the order below!

2. English language test documentation
A high level of spoken and written English is required. ONLY these language tests and minimum scores are accepted by Chalmers as proof of your English language proficiency:
Cambridge CPE or CAE: Pass
IELTS (academic), 6.0 (with no part of the test below 5.0)
TOEFL (paper based): 550
TOEFL (computer based): 213
TOEFL (Internet based): 79 همان IBT هست
SSCE/WASSCE/GCE O-level in English (min score 7) including the waecdirect access card is sufficient for Nigerian applicants.
Attention!
The TOEFL (Institution) code is: كد دانشگاه هست كه موقع ثبت نام تافل بايد وارد كنيد تا مدرك به اين دانشگاه فرستاده شود9520. No Department code is used.
The TOEFL report of scores is valid ONLY if received directly from Educational testing Service, copies are NOT accepted!
Certificates from universities are NOT accepted as proof of your English language proficiency!
Institutional TOEFL and the TOEIC-test are NOT valid for academic purposes in Sweden!
Applicants who have studied most of their university education in any of the following countries do not need to present an accepted English language test:
Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Norway, New Zealand, Sweden, United Kingdom and the USA.
3. Certificates and diplomas from previous university studies
Applicants presently enrolled in studies (with no possibility of enclosing a graduation Diploma/equivelent) must enclose an official university certificate stating that the applicant is expected to complete the Bachelor of Science/Engineering degree (honours), or the equivalent, at the end of Spring term 2008.
Attention!
If your degree was awarded in Pakistan, your degrees/transcripts and diplomas must be attested by the Higher Education Commission in Pakistan.
4. Transcripts of records
Transcripts of records including grades and course syllabus (relevant to the applied programme) from previous university studies. The purpose is to enable Chalmers to assess content and level of your studies.
Attention!
If your degree was awarded in Cameroon, Canada, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Sudan or USA, an official transcript of record must be sent directly from your university in a sealed envelope.
5. Work experience
Certificates of relevant work experience and other professional certificates, if any.
6. A Curriculum Vitae.
7. A personal letter
A personal letter explaining why you want to join this programme and what you expect from your studies at Chalmers.
8. Letters of recommendation
Two letters of recommendation from former teachers or employers, if any. There is no template available or required, the letter should be personal.
9. Application for scholorship (not compulsory)
You are welcome to apply for a scholarship in a letter explaining why you need financial support. In order to qualify your academic record must be excellent. The best candidates are selected by Chalmers and the names submitted to the Swedish Institute who makes the final decision. Do not apply directly to the Swedish Institute.

The application period for Master's degree programmes
starts in December and ends February 1, 2008.

Special entry requirements for Master's Programmes

Advanced Engineering Materials
Normally BSc degree with Major in Materials science, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics or Chemistry. This degree should include basic courses in metals, polymers, solid mechanics and mathematical analysis. Basic knowledge in physics and thermodynamics is recommended.
Applied Mechanics
BSc degree with Major in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automation and Mechatronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering with Physics, Civil Engineering and Engineering Physics. Others may be accepted depending on their background.
The degree should include the following (or corresponding) courses: mathematics (including mathematical statistics, numerical analysis and multi-variable calculus) (37.5ects), mechanics and strength of materials (22.5ects), engineering materials (at least 7.5ects, 15ects is recommended), fluid mechanics (7.5ects) and finite element method (numerical solution of partial differential equations) (7.5ects).
Applied Physics
BSc degree with Major in Engineering Physics, Physics or Chemical Engineering.
Architecture
BSc degree with Major in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Physical planning.
Automotive Engineering
BSc degree with Major in Mechanical Engineering, Automation & Mechatronics Engineering, or Vehicle Engineering. Others may be accepted depending on their background. Furthermore, the applicants must have completed the following courses (or corresponding):
- Mathematics (including mathematical statistics, numerical analysis and multivariable calculus), 37.5ECTS.
- Mechanics and strength of materials, 22.5 ECTS.
- Engineering Materials (including metallic and polymer materials), min 7.5 ECTS (15 ECTS recommended).
- Machine elements (applied mechanics or similar), 7.5 ECTS.
- Control theory, 7.5 ECTS.
- Thermodynamics, 4.5 ECTS.
- Fluid mechanics, 7.5 ECTS.
Automotive Industrial Design Engineering, AIDE
BSc degree with Major in Industrial Design Engineering. This degree should include courses in Industrial Design, Human Factors Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics. Bioinformatics and Systems Biology
BSc degree with Major in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Information Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer science. Biomedical engineering
BSc degree with Major in Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, or Automation and Mechatronics Engineering. This should include the following skills at a bachelor’s level: calculus (including multivariable calculus), transforms, linear algebra, electric circuits analysis, signals and systems, a basic programming course.
For those who lack a basic signals and systems course there will be a preparatory course available. For those who are unfamiliar with Chalmers computer systems and corresponding software a computer introduction course will be available. Biotechnology
BSc degree with Major in Bioengineering, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. Business Design
BSc degree with Major in Engineering, Science, Business or Law. The degree should include 30 ECTS of courses in Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Chemistry and Bioscience
BSc degree with Major in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Bioengineering. Communication Engineering
BSc degree with Major in Electrical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Automation & Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent.
This should include the following skills at a bachelor’s level: signals and systems theory (including linear systems and transforms), mathematical analysis (including probability and linear algebra) and basic programming. Basic knowledge in data communications is recommended. Complex Adaptive Systems
BSc degree with Major in Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation & Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering Mathematics, Chemistry or the equivalent.
The students are assumed to have sufficient knowledge of Mathematics. This includes the equivalent of Chalmers courses in Linear Algebra, Analysis, Numerical Analysis. In addition, rudimentary programming skills are required. In the course of the programme the students are given ample opportunity to develop their programming skills. Management and Economics of Innovation
BSc degree with Major in Industrial Engineering & Management, or an Engineering discipline, provided that this degree also includes previous studies of economics and management-related subjects.
