Please take this post with a grain of salt. Although we have dozens of sources reporting the same thing, Bittrex has refused to respond to any inquires, from anybody.
From what we can tell so far is that the Bittrex site has been seized by US authorities. We have it on good authority that the Bittrex website is now under control of and operated by the a US government authority. Our sources would not say which agency, however, we suspect the FBI has taken control of the site and will continue to monitor and observe all activity as long as they are able to before this story hits mainstream media which should be in a matter of days. We are making this public as of December 5, 2017, to as may media outlets as possible to try and aid any persons that may deposit any funds to their website. Unfortuneately, it appears that anybody who has already deposited funds with Bittrex may have lost them already.
So far we have only confirmed this in the US. However, it is likely to affect all account holders.
Here is what we know so far. There is no Bittrex in Las Vegas. There is no Bittrex in Seattle. There is no Bittrex registered in any jurisdiction as far as we can tell. It appears that any and all public information about the company is entirely false. There is no phone number, no address, no registered agent for service of process, yet they allegedly have over $1 Billion dollars deposited.
The reports that we have been given are all very similar. Customers with accounts from several years old to customers with accounts that a few months old have all reported similar experiences. Here are the things they have in common. Most have verified basic accounts. They are allowed to withdraw the equivelent of 0.4 Bitcoin per day, as state in there error messages when attempting to withdraw any funds.
However, they are not even able to withdraw 1 Satoshi for several weeks. The website encourages them to get enhanced verification. Many victims have reluctantly attempted to go through the enhanced verification process and have failed multiple times.
The identical same situation is described by almost every victim that we have been in contact with.
.
First the site asks people to upload front and back copies of their ID. Then they ask for a selfie photo of them holding their ID. The go through the entire process only to get an error message. The victim is forced to retype and enter all their information again. The next time they go through the entire process and receive another error. This time the error states that they could not verify identity because either the driver's license or the selfie was blurry.
The site then calls for the customer to email their profile and information to them with an original signed copy. The customers usually comply, despite their reluctant. The site then claims they still are unable to verify the person's identity and asks for a copy of their social security card and a copy of their utility bill.
Once these are all submitted, another error comes up and states that the utility bill is unacceptable because it is an online copy (some report it was because they receive electronic billing and others report they did an actual scan of their bill. Regardless, it is irrelevant because they will ask for even more documents.
After the customer resubmits all documents again, they get a message stating that they have submitted too many verification attempts and that they must contact customer service to schedule their withdraw and need to submit a ticket.
Which many clients have already done before. So they submit another ticket. The y then receive a "snotty," "disrespectful," and many other adjectives that don't bear repeating, which states that they have already submitted a previous ticket on this matter several weeks ago, so now as a penalty, both tickets will be combine into one at the most recent date.
Which apparently implies that the two weeks they have been waiting is all wasted and they go to the back of the line.
As far as we can tell, it appears that nobody has been able to make a withdraw in Bittrex in approximately 2 weeks at least.
We have been in contact with several other journalists and they have reported an almost identical pattern. Many are holding this story until they fully verify their sources, however, it is doubtful that they will want to miss out on one of the biggest scandals in history.
On a final note, we would strongly encourage everybody that has coins held on Bittrex to remove them to a private wallet ASAP. It is doubtful that it will be possible though.
If anybody is successful at making any type of withdraw, please let us know as many details as you can so we can begin to assemble a potential list of data points that can be shared with the community.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND US ANY PRIVATE KEYS AND DO NOT SEND ANY PRIVATE KEYS TO ANYBODY WHO ASKS YOU. We do not need private keys to continue this investigation and anybody who claims that you need to give them your private keys are most likely a scam.
