در مطلبي كه مايكروسافت در مورد حداكثر ميزان رمي كه بصورت فيزيكي در ويندوز ساپورت ميشود چنين آمده است :
The /maxmem parameter limits the physical memory available to Windows.
/maxmem=SizeInMB
Subparameter
SizeInMB
Specifies the maximum amount of physical memory available to Windows. Enter a decimal number that represents the amount of memory in megabytes.
Comments
This parameter actually limits Windows to memory addresses less than or equal to the specified value. Because some memory within the remaining address space might be reserved for nonsystem use, the actual memory available to Windows might be less than the amount that you specify.
On Windows XP and later versions of Windows, use /burnmemory to limit system memory more precisely.
You can use this parameter to test a driver in low memory conditions. For example, you can use this parameter to limit a computer with 1 GB of memory to 256 MB of memory.
Example
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /maxmem=256
Bootcfg Command
bootcfg /addsw /MM 256 /ID 1

The /burnmemory parameter reduces the amount of memory available to Windows by the specified amount.
/burnmemory=SizeInMB
Subparameter
SizeInMB
Specifies an amount of memory (in megabytes). Enter a decimal integer. This value is subtracted from the amount of memory otherwise allocated to the system.
Comments
This parameter is similar to the /maxmem parameter, which specifies the amount of memory available to Windows. However, because /maxmem actually sets an upper bound for memory addresses available to Windows, and because there might be gaps in the allocation of system memory, the /burnmemory parameter is more precise than the /maxmem parameter.
This parameter is valid only on Windows XP and later versions of Windows.
Example
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /burnmemory=256
Bootcfg Command
bootcfg /raw "/burnmemory=256" /A /ID 1
